HAPPY NEW YEAR, BLUE TIGERS!
Our sesquicentennial year has begun, and we invite you to join the celebration of Lincoln University’s founding in 1866. In the last 150 years, the university has grown from a small one-room building with two students to a beautiful campus on a hill in Jefferson City. Tis is a time to honor our proud past and to move forward even more rapidly into our progressive future. We should all expect that in this sesquicentennial year, the pride we feel in Lincoln University will shine throughout the campus, into the community and across the country. Let’s work together to advance the university. Let’s focus on the vision, positive achievements and advancements of the university throughout our 150th anniversary year and into the future. I know that 2016 will be a great year.
We are about to begin our first major construction project since 2006. We closed 2015 with the announcement that Sircal Contracting had been awarded the contract for the construction of the new University Wellness and Parks Multi-Purpose Recreation Center. I look forward to watching daily changes on the site of the new facility as excavation begins, concrete is poured, beams are installed and the roof and walls are added. ABOUT THE NEW SEAL
Te Presidential Seal has received an update, making it easier to reproduce. Although the words “Founded by the 62nd and 65th Colored Infantries” are no longer included, the mark pays homage to our founders. Sixty-five bevels surround the profile of President Lincoln. Tere are 62 bevels around the outer rim of Te Seal. Te designers were purposeful in including these details so as not to lose the key foundation of the university.

However, it reflects the fact that Lincoln’s presence in the life of the city is growing, and this partnership will result in a place which invites and welcomes the community to be part of campus life. We look forward to the Wellness Center opening in 2017 and are already planning that the 2017 President’s
Gala will be held there. Tis is a very special time in our institutional
history. We will be celebrating on a number of occasions in the months ahead. Check our website for information and watch for newsletters and special notices of upcoming activities. Te 2016 Lincoln University Foundation President’s Gala will be held on April 16. Please make sure the date is on your calendar.
