Considering Roberts did that while going through the grind that is being a college wrestler, his accomplishments were made to be more impressive. One aspect of the sport that can be a challenge is weight cutting. “It takes a lot of discipline to maintain weight, especially in col- lege,” Roberts shared.  is a team and individual sport as what he likes most. “I like that it is a team sport, but you compete as an individual,” Roberts said. “It is fun to have the support of your team, but when it is time for your match, it is just you and your opponent out there.” An alumnus of St. Louis-area high school Francis Howell, Mi- chael Roberts began his wrestling journey when he was six years old. Joining the St. Charles, Mo. native along the way was brother JT Roberts, who is also a graduate and former grappler at Westminster. The Roberts brothers had the opportunity to be coached — Michael,


 names in the sport, Mike Eierman and Tony Eierman. Michael explained that they embraced his style of wrestling and helped him develop. Whether it be with the Eierman brothers or Kenneth Gawronski at the helm, Roberts stated there were many great memories, from team wins to him pinning national champions. Michael explained

why he picked Westminster as the place where he experienced his collegiate wrestling greatness. “I chose Westminster because of the academic reputation, small  away,” Roberts said. Following his successful four years as a student-athlete at West- minster, Roberts plans to pursue opportunities in the St. Louis area in sales and marketing. “I hope that I have set a standard at Westminster for winning and  hope future Blue Jays can see what is possible, even at a small school.”
