pinch-me moment and something that will be a lifetime memory.” The Tipton community did a lot of cheering this year, but nobody was rooting for the Cardinals QB more than twin sister Ava. “I think Dane did a great job leading the Tipton Cardinals to a championship. I think he has a tough job as quarterback, having to play quarterback, and it was very tough for me. I didn’t realize And cheering on the Tipton Lady Cardinals in the middle of that student section, twin brother Dane was forever proud of Ava. “She has a motor/drive unlike anyone I know; her work ethic is un- gets double, triple, and quadruple teamed, and no one can stop her. I game, she threw a few touchdowns and also caught a few.”
“Dane is very much a team player,” describes Ava. “One of his best athletic qualities in football and basketball is his vision to see the always get the ball where it needs to go to keep the drive alive.” Dane’s football career will continue at Westminster College in Ful- ton, where he plans to study business. Ava will play college basketball while pursuing a degree in Health Science, preparing to become a radiation therapist. While the Tipton playing days are over, the memories live on in a community that has loved watching these twins compete as Cardinals. “Playing for Tipton meant everything to us,” said Ava. “We have the best community and support. No matter how far we traveled, we always had a crowd behind us. Looking in the stands and knowing our whole town was there cheering us on pushed us to give everything we had.” “It was awesome! I’ve loved every moment of it,” added Dane. “I’m really going to miss them!” Mom and Dad will keep following the twins wherever they play, and there’s one more Schlotzhauer coming up through the Tipton school system. Watch out for little sister, Stella. She already has a good jumper. It was a school year to remember, as Tipton became Titletown, with twin state championships.
“It’s been a great ride,” Dane said. “I’m so proud to be Ava’s twin brother. I’m going to miss watching her play basketball in a Cardinal uniform.” “We’ve been really lucky, because not everyone gets to go through this with their twin,” said Ava. “Competing together, pushing each other, and celebrating state championships side by side is some- thing we’ll always be grateful for. I’m so blessed to be a twin, and I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.”
