Brandon Moore had a great career at Blair Oaks, playing for Fick from 2008 to 2011.
“He didn’t just teach me the game of basketball; he fundamentally changed the trajectory of my life, opening doors and creating oppor- tunities I never could have imagined for myself,” said Moore. “To this day, I am proud to call him both a mentor and a friend.” In March, Fick ended his third year as head coach at Capital City High School. Lady Falcons, while his daughter Mallorie is an assistant coach with the Capital City Lady Cavaliers. “It means a lot to me that they have enjoyed their experience with the game of basketball to the level that they wanted to continue being involved in the game and pass that love on to the kids they coach,” said Fick.

Ryan has always enjoyed coaching. “I enjoy the day-to-day inter- actions with the kids not only in practice but throughout the school day in the hallways or classes,” said Fick. “And maybe the biggest joy comes from seeing what they do after they leave us.” This fall, Ryan’s youngest son, Owen, heads to high school and
to step away from coaching basketball to be a dad in the stands. “I’m looking forward to watching him play without him having the added stress of dad being his coach,” said Fick.
Starting July 1st, Ryan Fick will become the Activities Director at Blair Oaks High School. While not coaching, the position allows him to still be near basketball as well as all the other sports at Blair Oaks and to play a key role in the continuing success of those sports programs. school basketball during the 2026-27 school year.
