with belief that it was happening. 1-0 win again. A hard way to win a district title, but we did anyway.
“Coach Blake’s leadership, dedication, and kindness have soccer pitch. His belief in his players and our sons’ soccer abilities encouraged our kids to work hard and reach for their goals. He has given us lasting memories, like brothers playing alongside each other to win a district championship, that we as parents will never forget. Scott was also instrumental in helping pave the way for our son to continue his collegiate soccer career and play at the highest levels possible. We will forever be grateful for the impact he has had on our family.” — Mike and Cherita Heller
year as head coach only had 12 returning players. By the end of 45 players a year since. He helped develop the all-time JCHS (and JCSD) leading girls’ goal scorer, who still sits in the top 25 career goals all-time in MSHSAA history. More importantly, he helped pro- vide and build a program that continues to attract newcomers to the game and provide opportunities to the next level.
many years, Coach Blake has had an impact on the lives and careers of countless athletes, coaches, and families. The culture he helped to create in the JCHS soccer program and the knowledge he shared positioned many for success at the next level in college. Above all, he prioritized the individual over the athlete, building young men and women of character through his coaching and mentoring. Coach Blake leaves behind a legacy of success, hard work, and integrity that will — Tanner Haugen, Former Jays soccer player

Scott has had a ton of wins and accomplishments, but behind the scenes, a lot of people don’t get to see the everyday impact and head soccer coach for the men’s and women’s teams at Manhattan Christian College in Kansas.
“Coach Blake didn’t just coach the Lady Jays—he transformed the program into something bigger than wins and losses. From my sophomore to senior year, he built a culture of it means to be part of this team. Now, as an assistant coach, in me—how to lead, how to compete, and how to invest in people beyond the game. His impact won’t end as he steps away; it will continue to shape every practice, every player, that same passion, vision, and standard of excellence to the college level. In his next endeavor, he won’t just build a team, he’ll change a program.” — Emily McMillian, 2025 JCHS Graduate
Scott stayed on during the JCSD school split, a time when his personal anywhere. But he stayed because he wanted to make sure JCHS soccer was taken care of and wanted to make sure that the incoming players had the same history and opportunity as the previous 20 years. That’s something that people don’t always get to see: the moti- vations behind his belief in a better future for soccer in this area. He’s spent countless hours investing in thousands of players, many of whom would go on to attend other high schools and eventually compete against him, simply because of his genuine love for the game and community. Scott has said many times that we aren’t just coaching a player, we are coaching a person, a kid, someone’s fu- ture. That has always stuck with me; soccer has been just a vessel reminders listed about his purpose in life, and the mentorship and education he has given many have been among the largest.
