Home of the UCSF – John Muir Health Jean & Ken Hofmann Cancer Center” A unified “One Team” approach adopted by client, John Muir Health, and the entire design and construction team helped drive the successful completion of the Behring Pavilion in Walnut Park, CA. Tis new 155,000-square-foot, three-story outpatient facility is a vital
care center that supports the UCSF – John Muir Health Cancer Network. Te building comprises state-of-the-art imaging services, a radiation oncology department, infusion department, pharmacy, oncology lab and much more. The project team, including the client, general contractor Swinerton
Builders, architect, SmithGroup, and major trade partners worked from the outset to ensure schedule and budget certainty through their unified One Team approach cultivated through transparency, trust, fun and community outreach efforts. Te team established the target cost early in the project’s design, and despite a worldwide pandemic, supply chain shortages, and runaway material and escalation costs, successfully met that budget while also overcoming major challenges to meet the project’s aggressive 26-month schedule. Also selected as a finalist in this category was Stronghold Engineering for “Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning System at Ironwood State Prison.”
