SPECIALTY $10 MILLION AND OVER

Reconstruction Project” Golden Gate Constructors subcontracted Royal Electric Company to assist with the reconstruction and layout of the two critical taxiways, Runways 28L and 28R, within the San Francisco International Airport Operations Area. Te project was designed to allow aircraft to exit the runways more easily and safely after landing. Early on, the team faced three months of unforeseen, extreme wet weath-

er, which left open spaces such as duck banks and the fuel vault exposed to flooding. Weekly pumping to remove water caused major delays to the work. Royal was also issued a significant scope expansion during construction. Despite these factors, midway through the second phase an acceleration plan was implemented to finish three weeks ahead of schedule. Royal Electric successfully met this challenge and others, working 24 hours a day, seven days a week during the last three weeks of construction. Te team achieved the owner’s deadline and delivered a project that showcases Royal’s leadership, perseverance, innovation and, above all, collaboration.
