BUILDER $200 MILLION AND OVER

Natural Resources Headquarters” Te New Natural Resources Headquarters project has dramatically changed the skyline of California’s state capitol. Delivered by a Turner + AC Martin design-build team, the LEED Platinum certified project encompasses a full city block with a new office tower, public plaza, gardens, and the renovation of the historic Heilbron House at the corner of the site. Te 850,000-sq.-ft., 22-story high-rise office tower is now home to the

California Natural Resources Agency. Designed to accommodate 3,500 occupants, the building features a fitness center, auditorium, multi-vendor food court and pedestrian plaza. Directly adjacent to the tower, two separate one-story buildings were designed and built to allow for separate retail spac- es. A new daycare facility was constructed on top of an existing state-owned office building across the street from the office tower as part of the project. Turner Construction and their team overcame myriad challenges through- out 42-months of design and construction, ultimately achieving a phased occupancy of the tower seven weeks earlier than required. Also selected as finalists in this category were Hensel Phelps for “DGS Cal-
