ASSOCIATE ACHIEVEMENT AWARD Dr. Giovanna Brasfield, CEO & Principal Consultant, Brasfield & Associates Dr. Giovanna Brasfield (Dr. G) is an award-winning chief exec- utive officer and principal consultant for Brasfield & Associates, a consulting firm that helps leaders and organizations build more culturally diverse, equitable and inclusive workspaces. Dr. G helps hundreds of industry leaders and organizations
leave the status quo behind and step into meaningful, measur- able and sustainable DE&I strategies. Her deep involvement with AGC of California includes serving as a director of CEF and chair of the DE&I Steering Committee. She also serves as board chair of RAND’s Center to Advance Racial Equity Policy (CAREP) and on the board of West Angeles Community Development Corporation. Dr. G’s many accolades and awards include: 2022 Women Empowerment Award from the YWCA Glendale-Pasadena Chapter, 2022 Inspirational Women Nominee by the Los Angeles Times, 2021 Outstanding Women in Construction by the Construction Business Owner magazine, a 2021 LA County Impact Maker by Stratiscope, 2020 Mujer del Año (Woman of the Year) by the Regional Hispanic Institute, and Game Changer by Diversity Professionalmagazine.
HARRY ECKSTEIN SAFETY PROFESSIONAL OF THE YEAR AWARD Tod Decker, Safety Director, Blois Construction Inc. Starting in 1999, Tod Decker has worked with Blois Construc- tion Inc. and is currently serving as the company’s safety director. For the past 17 years, Decker has been responsible for Blois’ safety program, overseeing day-to-day compliance, best construction practices at all company job sites, and promoting the company’s safety culture. He is also responsible for Blois’ safety policies and
procedures, performance metrics and all safety training. He actively participates in external partnering meetings, internal pre-planning meetings, leads all accident/incident investigations and chairs Blois’ monthly EHS Committee. He has significantly improved key safety performance
metrics and fostered a culture shift by ensuring regulation adherence by helping team members prioritize and take pride in safety in what can be a dangerous industry. His work has resulted in 75% reduction in incidents and injuries. Decker currently serves on the AGC of California Safety & Health Council.
