 schools and communities,” he explained.  “It’s getting to teach the game I love and watching players grow into remarkable individuals,” he said. “The relationships I’ve built with players, parents, and colleagues are what I cherish most.” Of course, coaching isn’t without challenges. “I don’t deal with los- ing very well,” he admitted. “But every setback is an opportunity to learn and improve.”

          relaxing. “It’s nice not being in charge of everything,” he said. “I enjoy focusing on mentoring young players and working alongside like-minded coaches like Coach Wilde and Coach Heidger.” Through his decades of dedication, coach Engelbrecht has left an indelible mark on the lives of his players, the schools he served, and the communities he inspired. His story is one of passion, resilience, and a love for teaching both basketball and life lessons. “I’ve been so fortunate to spend my life doing what I love,” he said. “The wins are great, but it’s the relationships and memories that truly matter. I’m grateful for every moment.” For Coach E, the game may end, but the legacy lives on—on the court, in the hearts of his players, and in the spirit of the Eugene community he calls home.
