Micah Spencer, CPA, CGMA

When corporate finance professionals in Tulsa, Oklahoma, need help they can turn to Micah Spencer, CPA, CGMA, a tax manager with CCK Strategies. “Whatever the client’s restrictions on hiring a fulltime controller—size, resources or experience—the owner still requires assistance with closing the books at the end of each period and making necessary adjustments to prepare accurate financial statements,” Spencer explained. “Tey also need to clearly understand their financial position so that they can make informed decisions about the future.” He continued, “My role as a CFO consultant involves assessing a company’s needs and implementing processes for maximizing profit so they can make those decisions. Te significance of this achievement is the ability to recognize a business in its current life cycle by evaluating its capacity for growth.” Spencer, who earned his bachelor’s

from Oklahoma Wesleyan University and master’s from Northeastern State University said, “My background is in managerial accounting…I also enjoy teaching and training others. Tanks to the freedom I’ve been given…I am able to combine these areas to create an opportunity to serve clients with diverse accounting and financial needs.” Spencer, a member for almost three

years, also enjoys serving his community. He was a treasurer for the Jeff Tracy for

Oklahoma House District 71 campaign and a treasurer for Cub Scouts – Pack 10. Currently, spencer volunteers for Junior Achievement (JA) and Church on the Move (COTM) on the production team. “JA provides me the opportunity to teach financial and entrepreneurial skills to students that do not receive this information in their normal curriculum,” Spencer said. “After spending a full day with a class, I am usually exhausted and have a newfound appreciation for the job that teachers do every day.” Of COTM, Spencer added, “If my role

in volunteering can help one person feel less of a burden for one hour, I can leave knowing I have fulfilled my role.” Andrew Stone, a production manager

at Church on the Move, said, “Having a person like Micah involved with us has been very much to our benefit. He has never shied away from his volunteer responsibilities, even during his busy tax season.” However, as Spencer explains, that

should pretty much be expected. “Serving is my passion,” Spencer said.

“Volunteerism is a gift that I integrate into my busy life as a husband, father and professional. Te time I spend volunteering is simple—helping people matters.”

MICAH’S TRAIL MIX

One thing you’ll never catch me doing is: Shopping on Black Friday

Do you have any quirky talents? I walk around the house while reading on my Kindle. I have “Spidey sense” to avoid obstacles.

What was your favorite toy as a child? I collected basketball and baseball cards. Tat’s all I ever wanted for birthdays and Christmas. I just knew I was going to get rich from them, but that never worked out.

One thing on my bucket list is: To visit six continents (I am not counting Antarctica. Too cold.)

If I could be any superhero, I would be: Superman – I’d really like to fly.

My favorite hobby is: Reading and learning new skills

If you could be a MasterChef at making anything, what would it be? I’d like to have a brick oven and be able to make really good pizza at home.
