Evan Blasingame, CPA, a partner at Angel, Johnston & Blasingame, P.C. in Chickasha, Oklahoma, fulfilled his greatest professional achievement by returning to his roots. “I enrolled at Oklahoma State in the fall of 2006 with the goal in mind of receiving a degree in accounting and being able to sit for the CPA exam. At the time I was not sure the future career path I would take or what I wanted to do with my degree, but I knew that an accounting degree and becoming a CPA would open a lot of doors for me in my life,” said Blasingame. “I used my dad and his partners as references often when I had questions concerning my accounting courses. As my college career went on…I began to become very interested in returning home and one day taking over the practice.” “I have always wanted to run my

own business and work for myself,” he continued. “I am very fortunate that my dad owns his own firm and I realize that I have been awarded opportunities that others may not have early in their careers, but it has taken a lot of hard work and dedication to get to where I am today.” Te Chickasha native is also a deacon

and volunteer for the Budget & Finance Committee at the First Baptist Church of Chickasha, is a member of the Chickasha Rotary Club, a 2016 member of Leadership Chickasha and annually volunteers to help hang lights for the town’s popular Festival of Lights. Additionally, he is the treasurer of

the Grady County OSU Alumni Chapter and the team chaplain for the Chickasha Fightin’ Chicks football team. Blasingame, an OSCPA member

for six years, has served on the OSCPA Young Accounting Professionals (YAP) Committee since 2014 and attended the OSCPA’s strategic planning retreat in 2016. “I find Evan highly professional with a

strong moral compass,” said Jacob Pasby, CPA, a controller at Arnold Oil Properties and chair of the YAP Committee. “He has always displayed a high degree of professionalism and always speaks up when decisions need to be made.” However, it isn’t his professional world

that Blasingame finds most rewarding. “I am most proud of being a husband, and the father of my two boys,” Blasingame said. “I believe my roles as a husband and as a father are the two most important roles I have in my life. Raising children with my wife and teaching them how to become polite and respectful is a job I take very seriously.” Blasingame, who has been married to his high school sweetheart for five years, knows the adage about not going home again is simply not true.

“I was born and raised in Chickasha and the community and its people mean a great deal to me,” Blasingame said. “I love serving my community any way I can and hope that I can continue to make the place where I live better on a daily basis.”
