AGC Honors Three with Achievement Awards T
he AGC of California awarded three coveted Achievement Awards for 2015 during its
annual Awards evening in Rancho Mirage on October 24, 2015. All of these awards honor the individual’s extensive career of service to the construction industry and within AGC over the years.
Contractor Achievement Award
James “Jim” Carter, MCM
Construction Inc., North Highlands, received AGC’s Contractor Achievement Award. Carter began his construction career more than 50 years ago working as a laborer on a freeway project, then moved quickly through various positions of increasing responsibility with several construction companies. Carter founded MCM
Construction in 1973 and served as President of the company that he led to become a premier bridge builder in California. He headed up the MCM team that participated in the critical rescue and recovery operations following the devastating Loma Prieta Earthquake.

Specialty Contractor Achievement Award
Bob Cowan, Marina Landscape,
Inc., Anaheim, received the Specialty Contractor Achievement Award. With a construction career spanning more than half a century, Cowan started Marina Landscape in 1971 at the age of 12 with his older brother. Te company has grown to become a recog- nized national leader in the landscape industry. Marina Landscape has been an
active AGC member for over 15 years, with multiple active board members in several AGC districts. Bob Cowan has served as Past Chair of the AGC Specialty Contractors Council, among other posts. Te company regularly sponsors AGC events and is a key contributor to the AGC Construction Education Foundation.
