to bring Valley League baseball to Culpeper,” Ralston said. “T is will be great for the community and its thousands of baseball fans. We look forward to taking the fi eld this coming summer and providing fans with a fun-fi lled, family-oriented experience.” T e new team’s coach echoed Ralston’s
excitement. “T is caliber of baseball has never been
seen before in Culpeper,” Mack said. T e other 11 teams are in Charlottesville,
Covington, Front Royal, Harrisonburg, New Market, Purcellville, Staunton, Strasburg, Waynesboro, Winchester and Woodstock. T e recently opened PATH Recreation
& Fitness Center, operated by Culpeper Wellness Foundation, also helps fulfi ll the local nonprofi t’s goal to “improve health and promote wellness in Culpeper, Madison and Orange counties.”
T e new facility hosts two full-size
multisport courts lined for basketball, volleyball and pickleball, plus batting cages, and activity rooms that can be rented out for parties or classes, according to the foundation. Sports opportunities for the entire family
can now be found in Culpeper County. Local childcare programs, home schoolers, extreme sports enthusiasts along with natural and scenic recreational opportunities have and will benefi t considerably from the addition of more facilities. Newly created facilities and programs
also benefi t the arts community, Special Olympics athletes, along with music, cultural and craſt enthusiasts. During the pandemic many people
rediscovered the benefi ts of recreation and sports. A renewed focus on self- improvement, mental health, and family will surely benefi t sports tourism in the region. New youth programs, a rodeo, cycling events, benefi t walks, 5k runs have all boosted local morale and added economic benefi ts for Culpeper County. Established annual events like the
