participants is via the FitScripts program – their custom supervised exercise program as referred by a physician. The FitScripts program is designed for people with conditions or limitations who are otherwise limited in what exercises they can and cannot benefit from. Physicians routinely prescribe eight

weeks of exercise devised by PWC. Research and positive testimonials back up the specialized classes. The regular classes include Rock Steady Boxing for those with Parkinson’s, Aquatic FitScripts and Arthritis Mobility Essentials. “We have plans to push the FitScripts

program in 2023 and really develop our disease management and prevention platform to serve our community and its growing health needs,” Propps shared. T e program is a representation

of how PWC promotes a medically- integrated health journey in a collaborative way with other entities under CWF’s umbrella, which includes the Free Clinic of Culpeper and the PATH Recreation & Fitness Center (PRFC). “A lot of times, the Free Clinic

will refer someone to Powell for the FitScripts program,” Propps explained. “By the time they finish, they join and have gained an interest in exercise that they continue with at PRFC.” After Culpeper Sport & Fitness

permanently closed in February 2022, people were invited to exercise at Powell Wellness Center during the transition and construction of PRFC. The facility opened in two parts in

2022: first the fitness center in March, then the recreation center in August. The PATH Foundation dedicated half

a million dollars to help build CWF’s new anticipated facility. The 27,000 square foot center is chock full of cardio machines; strength training equipment; two full-size multipurpose courts for basketball, pickleball, and volleyball; two batting cages; and a multisport simulator. They offer adult programs like indoor cycling and yoga, youth training through boot camp and tumbling, group fitness, and simulator games available to rent for one hour. “We make a great team that covers

many different areas of need. This allows

us at any of our entities to provide resources to guide people in the right direction,” Propps added. The beauty of having a multi-faceted

organization is being able to encapsulate more of what the community needs. “We have something for everyone,

including those who have never exercised a day in their life or who struggle with health challenges. For the majority, not exercising can make problems worse,” Propps said. “Guided, intentional exercise can help.” PWC offers boxing, yoga, aquatics,

aerobics, strength training, and so much more at its 38,000-square-foot facility. There are dedicated rooms for what you might be doing, from stretching to cardiovascular exercise. There’s even a shop and cafe for workout preparation or exercise winddown. “CWF is to improve the lives of

the youth and families in Culpeper, Madison, and Orange, and we're doing that,” said PATH Recreation and Fitness Center Facility Director Tracie Massey. “It's tangible, we can see that we're doing it.”
