EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR’S TURF Michigan, Here We Come!
Casey Reynolds, PhD
When I was hired by TPI in 2017, I remember being told by the board and staff that one of the things people love about TPI is that it is an organization that places an emphasis on families. I have certainly experienced that during my tenure here, and that vibe and atmosphere will be on full display at the 2023 TPI Summer Convention & Field Day hosted by New Lawn Sod Farm in Michigan this month. If you haven’t had a chance to register yet, we’d certainly encourage you to do that as it’s not too late!
What do I mean when I say family-friendly? Picnics, baseball, slides, cornhole, ice cream, trike races, kids’ games with a parent’s night out, and more will all be incorporated into the usual TPI Summer Convention activities such as Field Day, education, optional tours, etc. All of these will provide a fantastic chance for TPI members to network, see old friends, and make new ones among the many TPI members and families in attendance.
Networking and getting to know your fellow sod farmers, manufacturers, and educators from all over the world is one thing that TPI members routinely tell us is one of the most valuable benefits of being part of the TPI family.
So much so in fact, that it routinely comes up in the membership review process that is currently underway at TPI. Not only will the Summer Convention be a chance to network, but it will also be a chance to hear and share your feedback on the results from the TPI membership review. We’ve been undergoing this process for almost a year now so that we can make sure we are providing you, our members, the best experience and value possible, and we look forward to sharing that with you in Michigan.
As we move forward into 2023, we’ll continue stoking the many other irons we have in the fire with new and updated publications, government relations, promoting natural grass, traveling to state and international meetings, and so on.
Anytime we have a two-conference year it seems to keep our staff and board running, but we also look forward to getting to see everyone three times in just 12 months. From Nashville, to Michigan, to Orlando in 2024, there are plenty of opportunities to visit and network in three unique settings. We hope to see you at one or all of our future events, and thanks for all you do for our industry. Best of luck in what is very likely a busy summer season for all of us, see you soon!
Cheers,
