Fulton’s Own Former Cardinal Story By: Jim Riek


The St. Louis Cardinals recently celebrated the 60th anniversary of the 1964 team which captured the World Series title in seven games over the New York Yankees. A mid-Missouri golfer, I mean  he lives in Fulton.


Charlie enjoyed a successful baseball career playing with the   heroics, baseball back then didn’t pay much. Charlie’s salary was  ning share.

Charlie grew up in the St. Louis suburb of Webster Groves. He fre- quently caddied at nearby golf courses and often played on Mondays when caddies could play all day. He continued playing occasionally during his baseball career.


When Charlie retired from baseball he used his Mizzou college de- gree. He co-founded the successful Callaway County manufacturing company named Central Electric in 1971. He retired in 2000 and de- cided to pick up his old golf clubs. For nearly a quarter of a century, Charlie has become a regular at the


Fulton Country Club, but also plays in countless charity tournaments, often helping fellow retired ball players with their own fundraising.
