News In Brief

Redeemer Community Church Organized

On March 7, 2021, Redeemer Community Church held

its organization service. Not only was the church orga- nized, but a new elder, Todd Bohanon, was ordained. Also, Rev. Mike Chipman was installed as Redeemer’s first pastor. Redeemer began after many prayers concerning the

city of Murray, KY, and a desire for a reformed church there. After a year of small group Bible studies, Redeem- er held its first worship service on January 18, 2015. The church met in the local American Legion building then moved to the Wesley Foundation on Murray State’s cam- pus. In October of 2019, Redeemer purchased a property in Murray and has been meeting there since. From the beginning, Redeemer has been committed to

growing Christ’s church through the ordinary means of grace. Rev. Chipman is also a full-time high school teacher at Murray High School. He sees bi-vocational ministry as a new paradigm for church planting and ministry in gen- eral. Redeemer has plans to plant more churches in the area using the same model.
