Erskine Football Returns Catoe had the play of the game

against Shorter University when he threw a pass for a touchdown. He says, “It’s not all about me. It’s the end result.” Davion Bellamy, a red shirted

freshman, came to Erskine from Ben Lippen School in Columbia, SC, on a basketball scholarship. “Football is my first love,” Bellamy said. “I start- ed working out with the team and doing both [sports], but Coach Boyd said I needed to decide.” “We are a young program, but we

have a feeling of hope,” Bellamy said. Covid-19 delayed the season un- til spring. Coach Boyd said they

lost some players due to juggling academics, but they currently have 127 players. Bellamy said, “Because of Covid, we have grown together. We had time away, time for extra

practice, and we faced struggles to- gether. We are a family.” The players feel the support

from the student body at Erskine College. “Everyone seems to be as excited as we are,” said Catoe. Staff and students want what is best for the team. Before the first home game, the

town had a parade down Main Street followed by a pep rally and a BBQ dinner. The excitement was shared through social media videos and pictures. Coach Boyd’s wife, Beth, creates all of the social media posts. Be sure to follow them. #GoFleet!?
