HEAVY CIVIL $15 MILLION TO $50 MILLION

Bridge - Barstow” Working closely with the City of Barstow, Caltrans and the San Bernardino County Transportation Authority, Skanska replaced an existing two-lane steel and timber bridge spanning the BNSF railroad with a wider and safer concrete bridge. Skanska constructed a new 1,300-foot-long bridge adjacent to the existing

bridge to maintain traffic during construction, installing a 380-foot-long soil- nail retaining wall as part of the work. Te project realigned the approach roadway and intersections, which required utility relocations, drainage and lighting improvements, pavement construction, and more. Once the new bridge was complete, Skanska removed the existing 29-span

bridge and concrete foundations. Te team’s ability to pivot when faced with unexpected track closure cancellations and still complete the project on time was just one example of their successful approach to this job. Also selected as finalists in this category were: Granite Construction Company

for “State Route 46 Corridor Improvement Project” and Myers & Sons Construc- tion for “Orange County Public Works (OCPW) Bridge Deck Replacement.”

SKANSKA received a Constructor award for North First Avenue Bridge - Barstow.
