2024 winner Lisa Peacock honored for decades of service As Lisa Peacock humbly accepted the L.
B. Henretty Memorial Outstanding Citizen Award, she stood in shock. Trough her many years of diligent passion towards bettering the lives of Culpeper citizens — helping build the doors that needed to be opened and selflessly giving so much of her time — she was in fact a worthy nominee. Peacock has been with Culpeper Human
Services for more than 25 years, serving as the agency’s director since 2011. She sits on numerous boards, committees, workgroups and sub-committees, establishing partnerships so that she can understand how best to meet the needs of the community. “Tat is where the work gets done,”
said Peacock. “It’s working together to understand how we are going to fill the gaps, how we are going to offer services, and how we are going to work together to address issues as they come up.” Peacock wrote the first grant for the
local Head Start program, changing the entire trajectory for young families and opening the door for all the childcare services available to families in need. She worked to incorporate the Culpeper Cosmetology Training Center under the CHS umbrella, extending opportunities for post-secondary education and funding for educational enrollment amongst her many community achievements. Peacock is looking forward to
continuing her work by addressing housing issues and homelessness during the winter months. Tis will involve work with federal, state and local officials, as well as nonprofits and the faith community, as she seeks bigger picture solutions to offer pathways to affordable, permanent housing.

conservationist who headed a number of local businesses and in his time was one of the most active leaders in the community. He led a variety of civic groups and encouraged other citizens to engage and invest their time within Culpeper, too. He served on the board of directors of the Second National Bank of Culpeper, as well as the Culpeper Chamber of Commerce. While Henretty's greatest legacy was
that he loved Culpeper, he will be known for generations to come for mapping out and constructing the lake system that has given Culpeper a bountiful and reliable source of fresh water. Without that foresight, Culpeper’s growth and prosperity wouldn’t be possible. Henretty created the Award for
