For equestrian athletes, injury is very common to the knees (meniscus tears, ACL), shoulders, back and neck injuries. What is the timeline for the procedure to work? Are there restrictions to the patient while waiting for the procedure to process? The treatment has somewhat of a delayed
effect...It can take up to 6-8 weeks to fully work, however we have seen quicker responses in some patients. There are minimal restrictions and there in zero downtime after performing this procedure.
How do you determine if someone is a candidate for this pro- cedure? How soon could the equestrian athlete or any athlete return to competing? We usually obtain X-ray and MRI prior to making that determination. We usually recommend patients decrease their daily work load by 25% for few weeks after the treatment and gradually return to base- line activity level.
Not only is (PRP) used for chronic conditions, it also benefits dermatology, (skin rejuvenation, skin resurfacing), to enhance appearance. Explain that process? Benefits and Outcomes? It is indeed a popular procedure and rather effective. One common procedure is widely known as “Vampire Facial”. We pair up micro-nee- dling with PRP injection for facial rejuvenation and the procedure takes around 45 minutes.
Medicine is advancing rapidly, procedures, treatments and pharmaceuticals. What is on the horizon that you feel will ben- efit patients?
