raphy business to include what I love, Arabians. Capturing the exact moment a small child reaches for an Arabian in eager anticipation during the farm tours was an emotional experience that was magnified by the thought that I believe it is the exact moment a heart is sealed with the Arabian passion. Of the eight hun- dred or more who attended each open farm I saw that spark between human and horse. The beginning of a horse story. I listened as the laughter of a child was nuzzled by a knowing mare, I smiled as wiser generations recounted stories of a special Arabian lost years before and through the lens and the golden sun I saw the foundation of any good story, love.
As a mother to Arabian loving children the perspective of how impacting
these horses are on such an intimate level is not something I could put a price tag on. For our old gelding Silverado’s Topper he truly is worth his weight in gold and diamonds. His patience as my daughter advances her horsemanship and his charismatic persona embody the truest qualities of what make the Arabian so great. The horse needn’t be worth $500 thousand dollars to be priceless. Ownership, or as I like to say, partnership, needn’t be a large monetary de- nomination to become a reality for your child, or yourself.
Capturing photographs that hold firm to the val- ues that make the Arabian so great was a pleasure for me at the farm tours. Watching that spark ignite for both newcomers and those already consumed by the breed gives me hope that the preservation of the breed will be placed on the shoulders who love the Arabian simply for being an Arabian.
