The esteemed producer/guitarist Johnny Garcia, guitarist for Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood is your producer? How was that ex- perience? What changes did he make in your music? Johnny is an outstanding musician and he has an excellent ear for songs, so having him to coach us has been life changing. He taught us a lot about following our instincts and putting emotion into a song as opposed to be being obsessed with being technical.
What is on the horizon for Bella Terra? Album? Tour? We are in the middle of finishing up a new bunch of songs in the studio that we are planning to release sometime early 2018. We try to stay as busy on the road as we can, so we will definitely be touring a lot of 2018.
Joe you’re a Merle Haggard music buff! Do you have a favorite Merle Haggard song? Any other music heroes? Martina, same question! Any music heroes, music influences? Joe: It’s really hard to nail down just one Merle Haggard song as my favorite, but I do listen to his album “Back To The Barrooms” more than any other album. I have A LOT of other influences in the coun- try world I’ve been influenced by Garth Brooks, Chris LeDoux, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings...and SO many more. I’m also influenced by a lot of rock acts like Bruce Springsteen, The Eagles, Tom Petty and
the Beatles. Martina: Where do I even start?! I’ve always been a country mu- sic fan, so my list may get long. Patsy Cline and The Judds will always be at the top. Their warm tones and harmonies are what inspire me to be the artist I am today. Add to that list, the grit of Waylon, sparkle of Reba, sassi- ness of K.T, Oslin and the coun- try entertainer himself Mr. Garth Brooks.
Since you are a duo? Is there another artist, you’d like to col- laborate with? Why? We both think it would be really awesome to do a collaboration with Garth and Trisha. Not only are they artists we look up too, be we also respect their business knowledge and would love to sit down and chat about country music.
Our theme for the February Issue is “Heart Healthy for You and Your Horses,” as a couple or individually what are some healthy things you do for yourselves, and your horses? Positive maintenance is key, both with our health as well as our horse’s health. While the music industry is very rewarding, it takes a lot of mental and physical strength. In staying conditioned for the road, Martina takes boxing classes and Joseph enjoys cooking bal- anced meals any chance he gets.
