State Technical College of Missouri


If State Technical College of Missouri cancels a class for any reason, students will receive a full refund for that class. Students who drop class(es) will receive refunds according to the following schedule: 16-Week Class:


 1st week of class ..........................................................100% Refund  2nd week of class ..............................................................No Refund


 Any class not on a 16-week schedule will be prorated based on the above schedule.  Students may change sections of the same class with the approval of the instructor(s). There is no cost for changing from one section to another section scheduled within the same semester. However, students who receive approval to change from a classroom to a web-based section of a class will be required to pay the additional cost per credit for web-based classes.


 No refund will be processed until 20 days have elapsed for any payment made by check.


Fees that are not refundable include:  Meal Plans  Seminar Fees  Drug Screening Fee


Student Housing Refunds. Please consult the current housing agreement for the policy regarding housing refunds. A copy of this agreement may be obtained from the Resident Manager at (573)-897-5165 or at https://www.statetechmo.edu/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/Housing-Agreement.pdf.


Credit Balance Refunds. Refunds of student account credit balances resulting from excess financial aid will be processed within 14 days of the date the student’s account reflects a credit balance. Third party billing refunds will not be processed until the third party has paid the balance on the account or until funds are secured. No refund will be made until 20 days have elapsed for any payment made by check.


Bookstore Refunds. To be eligible for refunds or exchanges, textbooks must be:  in like new condition  in their original packaging  accompanied by an original sales receipt


Textbooks may be returned within the first week of the semester or a week from the date on the receipt with a full refund. Students will receive a 90% refund for books returned during the second week. No returns will be accepted after the end of the second week.


Refunds for returns paid for by check will be issued no earlier than 20 days after the original date of sale.


Military Deployment Refund. Students who are called to active military duty have the option of withdrawing from classes and receiving a 100% refund or taking incomplete grades and re-enrolling within six months after being released from military duty.


Student Financial Appeal Petition. A student who believes he or she is entitled to a refund greater than the amount calculated or would like to dispute a charge may complete a Student Financial Appeal Petition, attach the required documentation, and submit the petition to the Financial Services Coordinator’s Office in the Nilges Technology Center at the Cashier window. The petition must be completed during the semester of the occurrence in question.
