THE DIGITAL PULSE OF THE NEIGHBORHOOD
By Jim Wisniewski, Director of Sales – Northstar
W
When we first think of safety in our communities, our minds immediately create the images of gates, tall fences, security cameras, guarded entrance pavilions and other physically tangible impediments to the evil-doers of the world. While these and other constructs are necessary to keep out and minimize the dangers to our communities, they are only addressing the physical threats which prey upon our homes and neighborhoods. Many of the challenges which diminish our inherent safety come from sources that are unseen to the naked eye, living in the digital world instead. Technology today, while bringing a wealth of conveniences can also bring safe haven and unfortunately, safe passage, for many unsavory characters. However, advances in this very same technology can not only thwart the criminals but also enhance our community’s safety much like the fences, gates and pavilions we see all around us.
