EDUCATION AND WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT

(AGC CEF) has made this year as we continue to do our part to build our future workforce.

Introducing & Building Construction Careers

AGC CEF actively continues to

engage with high school students to provide the information required to allow them the opportunity to consider construction as a future career option. Construction Career Awareness

Day (CCAD) events serve as a platform to bring gradual awareness of the vast career opportunities available in the construction industry, to middle school and high school students. AGC

Working Together To Fill The Pipeline I

By Cathy Skeen, AGC CEF Chair

am excited to share the many accomplishments that the AGC Construction Education Foundation

CEF recently partnered with the Sacramento Regional Builders Exchange Education Foundation to host the Construction & Trades Career Awareness Day event on October 7-8, 2016 at Raley Field in Sacramento. Te day’s morning session was designed to introduce high school students to career opportunities in construction, while the afternoon session was all about recruitment and hiring.

Te event was a great success,

drawing hundreds of high school students from the greater Sacramento region. Exhibitors who participated had a variety of candidates readily available to them from an array of backgrounds, including “ready to work

adults,” veterans, graduates and students from local pre-apprenticeship programs. Taking an approach

to meet the times, AGC CEF is also helping to build futures through the Virtual Construction Career Fair. Tis new, innovative recruiting tool that has given AGC member companies

direct access to jobseekers throughout the state. Te VCCF is also our main tool to connect veterans with construction careers and employers. To learn more about the event, please see the article “Te future of recruiting at your fingertips” on page 19.
