Developing the Next Generation Leaders As our
industry continues to change, we must evolve as an association and embrace the future. It is with this thought in mind that last year AGC
made significant changes, rebuilding the foundation for a better AGC. In keeping up with current trends and with members’ interest at heart, we revamped our website to include the optimized capability for mobile devices, simplified navigation and an improved search engine. We also revamped our staff structure into six customer-centric teams focused on specific services to better serve our members. Realizing the crucial need to address
and deal with the issues of workforce development across the state and within the industry, AGC made a commitment to develop the next generation through leadership, education and recruitment – and we remain steadfast in our commitment. Tis year, we increased our methods
of establishing a robust and thriving Construction Leadership Council (CLC) focusing on the development of young professionals already working in the industry. Te CLC promotes mentoring between young professionals, established AGC leaders and members and college students, thus opening the door for a lifelong passion for construction. We hosted many events where the
CLC focused on continuing their career growth and development, training, and networking opportunities. With over 200 active CLC members and a steady increase every day, there are so many exciting opportunities to look forward to. Te latest breaking news is AGC of

skills enhancement, and project tours. Te annual event takes place in October of 2017, so watch for announcements to participate. I invite you to monitor our website, Facebook or Twitter to receive exciting news about our CLC activities – I promise there’s more coming! AGC continued its focus on workforce
development through the Construction Education Foundation (CEF) using in-person and new technologies to actively increase the value we bring to both high school students and members who support our work and the future workforce. Students are engaged about the many career opportunities in construction through job fairs held at Annual Confer- ences, Construction & Trades Career Awareness Day, Virtual Construction Career Fair (VCCF), and so much more. AGC recognizes that education and
professional development play an instru- mental role in building a successful career in construction. Trough our Training Exchange, the Training and Education department worked tirelessly to provide numerous education and training oppor- tunities where members have access to relevant information to stay on top of the constant changing demands of the industry. Our designed coursework is offered in the classroom, online or at the convenience of companies taught by our instructors who are recognized as the best in the industry. Our many diverse construction
education and workforce development efforts demonstrate AGC’s commitment to helping shape the future workforce and the future leaders of our industry. I encourage you all to support the AGC Construction Education Foundation and to take advantage of the many programs and activities that AGC sponsors throughout the year. Together, our efforts will help build a solid, well-trained and viable workforce to meet our industry’s needs both now and well into the future.
