Broadening Representation As venue professionals, we strive to employ a representative
cross-section of our communities, and then work diligently to ensure - ues. The same principle is true for our Association. As we have each worked to broaden representation in our venues, IAVM is working to broaden the representation among our members, and particularly among our volunteer leaders. The group membership initiative, intro- duced a few years ago, has made a positive impact on the membership of our Association. The breadth of venue roles and responsibilities, as well as generational, gender, geographical, and ethnic representation, have all grown as a result.

Chapter and region meetings, scholarships to VMS and AVSS, op- professional and allied members, are just a few of the meaningful proximity and close-knit networks, our regional structure lengthens the reach of our Association to our members. Beginning in 2014, region directors have been working in concert to build a set of guidelines for Board of Directors voted to approve these guidelines. Over the next year, the Region Directors will begin to implement these best practices across our regions, and identify new opportunities for support for each regions’ important work.
This year’s Board of Directors is comprised of a stellar group of
professionals who are excited to serve their fellow members of IAVM. doing this important work on behalf of our members. We welcome your ideas, your support, and yes, even and especially your concerns or to your sector or region director, or to me directly at dbchair@iavm. org, anytime you have something to share. We are eager to hear from you and look forward to the year ahead. FM
