They have pro- vided a strong foundation, upon which we have already begun to build VenueConnect 2018, which will be held in Toronto. As we work to plan VC18, and if you weren’t able to complete the VC17 post con- ference survey, we welcome any feedback you’d like to share about VC17. Member Engagement It often goes without saying that members are the lifeblood of

IAVM. It’s also valuable to say it: members are the lifeblood of IAVM, and member needs and desires drive the Association’s work. Each year, the Association welcomes scores of volunteers to assist in setting the direction and carrying out its important work. While this makes IAVM stronger, each year there are members who do not get an opportunity to participate as actively as they would like. The Board will be working  volunteers, with the goal that every member who seeks to participate is provided an opportunity to participate in the life of IAVM. The IAVM Board of Directors is comprised of representatives from

our regions, sectors, schools, and other important constituencies. Each board member serves as a conduit of communication between our members and the Association’s leadership. We will be working to cre- ate new ways to enable that communication to occur. To accomplish the goal of meeting the needs of our members, and ensure that IAVM continues to be relevant in our constantly evolving industry, we must continue to innovate in the ways we provide education, information, services, and interactions. Welcoming more volunteers and improving communication with members will provide new, valuable input that will strengthen the val-   turn, our stakeholders and our industry.
