TPI NEWS WHAT TO KNOW
TPI MEMBERSHIP RENEWALS HAVE BEEN MAILED
Membership renewal statements for 2019 were mailed in late November. 2019 is the first year that TPI membership is based on the calendar year as it will be going forward. If you have not received your statement, please contact the TPI office at 847-649-5555 or Karen Cooper at kcooper@TurfGrassSod. org. Included in the renewals this year is a membership listing. TPI staff is updating the database to make it easier for potential customers to find a TPI member who sells the products they need! Turfgrass producer members are asked to review and update the types of grasses sold and industry partners are asked to update their product listings. All members should also review the names of all individuals associated with their businesses and provide email addresses for each so that we may stay in touch about TPI events and initiatives.
TPI STAFF TO ATTEND STMA CONFERENCE
TPI staff members will be representing TPI at the 2019 STMA Conference and Exhibition in Phoenix, Arizona, January 22-25. If you are at this event, please stop by the TPI booth and say hello!
MSMA HERBICIDE FOR SOD PRODUCTION: INPUT NEEDED FOR EPA RE-REGISTRATION Drexel Chemical and Luxembourg-Pamol, the two registrants of MSMA, comprise the membership of the Organic Arsenical Products Task Force (OAPTF). The Task Force is planning to submit an application to the EPA Office of Pesticide Programs early this year under the Pesticide Review Improvement Act (PRIA) to make the conditional turf uses of MSMA permanent and to restore some of the turf uses canceled in 2009. Currently, the MSMA label permits two broadcast applications per season for sod production. The Task Force would like to better understand the needs of sod producers prior to submitting the PRIA application.
Questions: Are two broadcast applications per season adequate? Are there other changes or additions to the use of MSMA needed in sod production that are currently lacking? Please contact Dr. Casey Reynolds Executive Director of TPI at
creynolds@TurfGrassSod.org or 847-737-1846 to provide any input. TPI will also be hosting an online webinar in January and will provide a link with instructions on how to participate as it becomes available.
