Support TLI— Grow the Future of Natural Grass

As we start the New Year for Turfgrass Producers International and I step into my position as your President, though we will face challenges, our future looks bright. I’m excited and humbled to serve such an incredible group of people who have helped me grow both personally and professionally. Tanks go to Past President Jimmy Fox and the Board of Trustees for their bold leadership in many initiatives and to Executive Director Casey Reynolds, PhD, and Associate Executive Director Karen Cooper, and the TPI staff for joining wholeheartedly in making those initiatives happen. And there’s so much more to come, I look forward to what this new year will bring.
TPI is our association, “Keepin’ It Real Since 1967.” Te world’s largest association of turfgrass producers and industry suppliers, TPI is dedicated to promoting the global environmental benefits and use of natural turfgrass. TPI programs, resources and services are focused on helping you grow your business. In addition, TPI provides you with a world-wide network to help you address your most difficult challenges and celebrate your biggest successes.
Te Lawn Institute (TLI) is TPI’s foundation, a separate entity, totally dependent on donations. One-hundred percent of the funds invested in TLI go to ensuring the future of the natural grass industry. Te Lawn Institute funds thousands of dollars in cutting-edge turfgrass research each year conducted by some of the world’s most respected turfgrass scientists and institutions. Te Lawn Institute invests in education programs, including funding the Dr. Henry W. Indyk TLI Scholarship. In addition, Te Lawn Institute will be a key part of the new public relations campaign to promote natural grass to a variety of stakeholders. We want to make Te Lawn Institute recognized as the source of information on Natural Grass.
Tere are multiple opportunities to donate in the TLI fundraisers held in conjunction with the 2019 TPI International Education Conference in Charlotte, NC, this February. And there will be more opportunities to donate at the TPI Summer Convention and Field Day in Minneapolis, MN, this July.
While TLI fundraising opportunities traditionally go well, we can do better. So I’m issuing a personal challenge. Yes, I’m asking you for money this one time; I won’t ask again. Te challenge—when you pay your dues for TPI, please add a donation for TLI! And, if you’ve already paid your TPI dues, take time right now to make that TLI donation.
Just think, if each of our approximately 600 members donates $250 during the annual campaign when you renew your dues, TLI will receive $150,000. If each member donates $500, TLI will receive $300,000. Each TLI donor receives a receipt for their contribution, which is tax-deductible. And you will have the added satisfaction of knowing your donation will go to ensuring the future of Natural Grass.
