Small Planes to Remote Places HARVEST NO TES
Brumbelows Planted Churches by ROGER REIMER
The journey of Gary and Valerie Brumbelow reflects the presence and guidance of our Lord in their lives. Their favorite Bible verse is 2 Corinthians 4:7 which says, “But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the sur- passing power belongs to God and not to us.” The verse is
demonstrated through their lives of ministry.
“But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing
power belongs to God and not to us.” 2 Corinthians 4:7
Some of the most unreached people groups in the
world are found in Northern Canada, Alaska and the Siberian region of Russia. Trav- eling to these communities that can only be accessed by small planes has been part of the Brumbelows' experience. Being instrumental in the establishment of churches in these remote communities without a lot of publicity has been their response to God’s call on their lives.
After a season of church
planting efforts, Gary moved to an administrative post with InterAct Ministries where he held a leadership position, giving him the opportunity to encourage others to pursue the ministries that were a core part of their lives. Serving by ministering as well as
in leadership are a reflection of the Brumbelows' commit- ment to follow the Lord’s leading.
Another indicator of their commitment to serve is
the their pursuit for formal training through education. That journey included Moody Bible Institute (1971-1973), Texas A&M (1974-1975), Grace University (1975-1976), Wheaton Graduate School (1987-1988) and Western Sem- inary (2011-2012). Gary earned a Bachelor’s degree from Grace University and a Master’s degree from Wheaton College. Furthermore, he was awarded the McGlathery Award in Communication for Academic, Professional, and Spiritual Excellence by Wheaton College in 1988. These are a commendable part of any ministry life that reflects a desire to be prepared.
The Brumbelows are making the tran-
sition now to a pastoral ministry as a pastor of the Troutdale Community Church in Troutdale, Oregon.
So, from 1978 to the fall of 2021, the
Brumbelows have faithfully served as cross-cultural global partners a total of 43 years. Gary also said, “Serving Jesus Christ in the harvest field has been our privilege, and the Fellowship of Evangelical Bible Churches (FEBC) was always a big piece of that.” Along with Crosspoint Bible church, their home church, the leadership of FEBC
wants to express appreciation to Gary and Valerie Brumbelow for their exemplary lives of faithful minis- try to the Lord Jesus, to whom all glory is given.
