FELL OWSHIP VIEWS Relationships Are Key

Pastor Tim Harris Embraces Discipleship by LINDA EDWARDS

Christian Fellowship Chapel (CFC) in Winnipeg welcomes Pastor Timothy Harris and his wife Kristin. Timothy is new to the Fellowship of Evangelical Bible Churches (FEBC) as well as to CFC, but he is not new to church life. He grew up in a Christian home, and attended New Life Church in Stonewall, a small community in Manitoba. He volunteered in the areas of camp counselling, music, and leading a men’s Bible study in his pre-pastor years.

Timothy acknowl-

edges his passion to see our churches find their sure footing in the Gospel, and observes a great need for sound doctrine and practice. He confidently asserts that “the storms we face may take different forms, but the Word of God endures forever.” His

desire in serving as a pastor is to assure God’s people of the confidence we can have in what God has declared. He believes that through study of the Word we will grow to love God, and subsequently each other, more. Indeed he is right on track here, as love is the strongest motivational force. In Timothy’s mind, relationships are key, a thought inspired by 1 Corinthians 4:15, where Paul states that he became a father through the gospel. Although CFC is Timothy’s first pastorate, he already has a father’s heart, as he has intentionally mentored, discipled, and coun- selled those whom the Lord has brought across his path. To quote him, “A good pastor will not only teach, but also have meaningful relationships with those he has been entrusted with.”

Timothy graduated from Millar College of the Bible

in 2010. As a lifelong learner he is diligent in biblical study, about which he is passionate. Although new to the official title of pastor, he is not new to the human condition and suffering. Since his graduation from

Millar, he has had a ten-year tenure of serving those who fit into Jesus’ mind as “the least of these.” From attending to the physical needs of the elderly and developmentally challenged, to teaching life skills and giving emotional support to male teens in addiction recovery, Timothy’s career path of serving has already been tested and tried, and will serve him well as a pastor. Before coming to us, he held the position of chaplain at Union Gospel Mis- sion, a rescue mission in North Winnipeg, where he was charged with the spiritual care of the men in the adult addictions recovery program.

Timothy and his wife, Kristin,

were married in January, 2020. Kristin also comes from a Christian home, shares Tim’s love for the church, and has embraced her role as a pastor’s wife. She graduated from the University of Winnipeg with a Bachelor of Arts, and a Bach- elor of Education, and is currently in the teaching profession. Musically gifted, she also served on a worship team prior to coming to CFC. Along with Tim, she seeks to model God’s love for others through the ministry of hospitality, encouraging and pray- ing for others. In Timothy’s words, “she strives to reflect Christ to those around her.”

Let’s rally around this promising new pastor couple,

being diligent to support them with our love and prayers. Linda Edwards is a retired nurse, who grew up in the

church, and has attended CFC for 52 years. Accepting Jesus at the age of nine, she heard the voice of the Lord often, al- ways encouraging her to pray more. Her service in the body of Christ has centered around intercessory prayer. She loves to invite the women in her life to join her in joy-producing restorative prayer.
