Supply Chain
Since distributors sit right at a key point in the supply chain, it’s no surprise that supply chain education is one of the most requested topics among FEDA members. The association made this a priority in 2024 by launching a new education series that tackled what it takes to build agile supply chains that integrate process innovation and advanced technologies. The two courses were delivered by distinguished faculty at the Haslam College of Business Global Supply Chain Institute, ensuring participants were receiving the latest information on best practices from authorities experienced at working alongside major businesses to achieve supply chain transformations. Having laid the groundwork over the past year,
FEDA’s partnership with GSCI will lead to even more customized content covering critical supply chain issues in 2025. Upcoming courses will retain a focus on planning and strategic foresight development, cover new trends and challenges in supply chain management and explore how technology could be used to make supply chains agile and better integrated. As with other FEDA education opportunities, members who complete the courses and the accompanying quizzes will be eligible to earn credits toward FEDA Supply Chain Strategic Skill Certification.
Upliſting Dealers
Participating in educational programs helps individuals at any age refresh their skills and stay current with best practices, but it can be especially vital for those who are still establishing themselves in their careers. FEDA brought back the Young Industry Leaders Retreat in 2024 as a way for young professionals on a leadership track to develop their knowledge of the foodservice equipment and supplies industry.
Hosted by Ice-O-Matic at its headquarters in
Denver, Welbilt Group President Erica Motes explained how members of FEDA Young Industry Leaders (YIL) can lead through economic downturns and business transformations, such as the one experienced industry- wide during the COVID-19 pandemic. FEDA will

continue to appeal to emerging and accomplished young leaders with its 2025 programming, including a new virtual event called Ask a CEO. The association is also in the preliminary stage of planning another in- person YIL retreat for 2026. While FEDA YIL programs regularly aim to connect established industry leaders with those still finding their place in foodservice equipment and supplies, the newest FEDA educational initiative will instead connect individuals who are already at the top of their organizations. The FEDA Dealer Growth Accelerator Mentoring Program (DGAMP) is designed to support emerging and growing dealers by pairing them up with more experienced dealers who can share essential tools, knowledge and strategies to excel in a competitive marketplace. By providing peer-to-peer mentorship in key areas of business operations — including customer service, procurement, business development and sales, technology/e-commerce, warehouse operations, transportation/logistics, and talent attraction and retention — this new program aims to help dealers expedite company growth and improve operational efficiency.
