Deafening Quiet


The quiet after


the storm is deafening.


The stillness after


 is jarring.


The sun coming up


from the grey clouds is blinding.


Sometimes I hear


the ringing


of the deafening quiet


in my ear, when I still see


the wreckage.


But then I remember that the sun came up,


and that the Son will come again.
