Camper Spotlight

Meet Torrance Lopez, Amy Fredette,Tom Soderstrom, Chris Fredette, Maria Baird,Cheryl Tiearney, Aron Davison and Katie Kemp. They are from Holy Angels in Belmont North Carolina and have been attending Camp Joy for many years. When they are not enjoying all the fun activities at camp, they are serving their community in many different ways. In the town of Belmont several businesses are run by Holy Angels:

• Cotton Candy Factory • Cherubs Cafe • Bliss Gallery • Market on Main

They help serve customers and also handcraft many of the items sold at the shops. Recently they were featured on Good Morning America for their work in the community.

campers over the four sessions held at Bonclarken. Along with the campers, we had 139 counselors and over 100 staff members. We would not be able to have camp without our amazing volunteer staff/ counselors that come and serve each summer. So many lives have been changed over the years, it is truly amazing to see God working through such a wonderful ministry.

As we wrap up the 46th year of Camp Joy, we have started to see second, third and even fourth generations of counselors and staff serving. The impact that Camp Joy has had on their lives is indescribable, passing along the life lessons from parent to child and even from grandparents to grandchildren. The Lord has truly blessed and will continue to bless everyone that has been a part of it.

One of the many ways God has blessed this camp is through those that  fee to attend, by design, the counselors and staff do not. We rely on various forms of donations, whether its churches helping offset supply cost, to someone supporting the cost of counselor to volunteer. Our current year end goal is $40,000, please prayerfully consider helping us meet that goal for this year. The impact our donation will be felt generations from now.

We look forward to another amazing year in 2026. - Neal Stroup, Administrative Director, neal@campjoy.net

Help us meet our annual goal of $100,000. Each year we rely on donors to bridge the gap from our camper fees to actual cost. We are on our way to reaching our annual goal, we still need $40,000. 
