Stretch Your Creative Mind
You don’t have to be artistic or “right-brained” to do this. ` Try a painting class—you may discover hidden talent ` Attend a musical or theater performance ` Find a fun coloring book, order a diamond painting kit, paint a fun design on a rock, put together a puzzle, or any other thing you enjoy that takes you away from a screen
Build Your Intellect
Read or Listen to a New Book or Podcast – It might even be helpful to set a goal to complete one new book a month and mix it up between pleasure and productivity. Here are a few ideas to get you started:
To Read & Listen in 2022
` 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos by Jordan B. Peterson
` Nothing Changes Until You Do—A Guide to Self- Compassion and Getting Out of Your Own Way by Mike Robbins

Boost Your Professional Repertoire
It’s easy to get stuck in your own bubble…head down, checking off the list. Only so much can be accomplished in a workday, so the best way to achieve more in the same amount of time is to work smarter, more efficiently, and by putting new information into your brain and engaging in new experiences. There are five stages of achieving expertise: Novice, Advanced Beginner, Competent, Proficient, and Expert. In addition to the many educational offerings of CAI both locally and nationally, the following are podcasts to help you expand your industry knowledge.
Industry Podcasts
` “PM for the Masses” Podcast —Life is a project. You are the manager.
` “Common Interest” Podcast ` “Community Matters” Podcast ` “Conversations with Community Managers” Podcast ` “Community Association Matters” Podcast
Effortless Competence
As you achieve different levels of knowledge, you will become more efficient at certain tasks simply by developing unconscious competence—when you have repeated a skill enough times that it becomes effortless. However, one of the best ways to become an expert at something is to teach others about it. Some opportunities to further develop your skills to the expert level are: ` Attend WSCAI events and develop relationships with other experts in our industry.
` Author an article for the Journal – we have lots of ideas awaiting an author or you can present your own idea.
` Consider presenting at an upcoming WSCAI event and sharing your knowledge. This can be done with a peer or subject matter expert(s).
A skill repeated enough times can become effortless.
SMART Goals
Use SMART Goal Setting. A quick Google search will net you lots of tips and guidelines for this. Cheers to a happy, healthy, and successful year ahead!

Resolutions 2022 —Shared by Toni Hahn
Professional Growth: I’m going to make a conscious effort to invest in Business Partner relationships. My success is often paired with great companies and professionals that are “boots on the ground.” I’m honored to be held in such high regard by the best in the business. It is my turn to find depth and a greater purpose with these amazing companies, teams, and people.
Personal Enrichment: I’m going to invest in my personal enrichment with 52 weeks of gratitude. I will take time each week to put thought into recognition of those around me. This may be a phone call, thank you note, or some other expression of appreciation.
