he past couple of years have certainly been a time warp – they’ve felt incredibly long in some ways and yet flown by
in others. As we launch, full speed ahead, into 2022, it’s a good time to take the opportunity to evaluate our growth and accomplishments and start thinking about our goals and plan for the coming year.
Holistic Goal Setting
Setting goals – both personally and professionally – and creating an action plan to achieve those goals is important to our success and survival. After all, a goal without a plan is just a dream. Your planning should be sure to include a plan for self-care, family time, and other things that are critical to all aspects of your life.
The better we take care of ourselves, the more effective we can be.
Many of us in this industry have a tendency to be very focused on taking care of, or problem-solving, for others, and forget about doing important things for ourselves. The better we all take care of ourselves, the more effective we can be in other aspects of our lives—so take some time out for you in 2022.

It may also be helpful to go through a planning exercise for the coming year with the board(s) of directors you work with to help keep the same focus throughout the year and feel a sense of achievement when December rolls around again!
While working from home, it’s easy to get “stuck” in your chair for hours.
Even if January gets away from you and you haven’t focused your sights on what’s to come, remember…it’s not when you start, but that you start that matters.
Care for Your Body—Get Moving!
Getting healthier has a different definition for everyone so find something that works for you. Regardless of your specific goals, we all need to keep it moving. With so many of us continuing to work from home, it’s easy to get “stuck” in your chair for hours on end. Make (and keep) appointments for yourself to get out of your chair and move a little. It doesn’t have to be complicated. ` Explore new types of activities until you find something you love – do it with an accountability buddy for even more fun – the options are endless and often at no or minimal cost.
` Don’t like going outside in the cold or rainy weather? Go walk an indoor mall, or just walk laps in your hallway.
` Explore free or low-cost apps that offer a variety of exercises or programs to follow.
