Trench Shoring Meets Challenges on Emergency Pipeline Project Trench Shoring Company

locations, Trench Shoring Company was able to provide 100 feet of slide rail shoring from its local stock. Tese slide rails were then “leap-frogged” ahead approximately seven times as each section of pipe was laid. Tis process and the amount of shoring utilized, resulted in better control of project costs and saved valuable time on this project.


Pipeline project, located below San Diego’s Balboa Park. Trench Shoring Company is providing 100 feet of its SBH® Slide Rail Shoring Systems for the project, which is managed by Hazard Construction. Designated “emergency” because the


existing 550 feet of existing, 10.6-inch diameter corrugated metal pipe had outlived its functionality and was seriously eroded, the project plan was to replace this eroded metal pipe with more durable 120-inch diameter cement pipe. Each section of concrete pipe to

Kevin McKay

Over the course of her career, she has managed projects of all delivery methods, including public-private partnership (P3), design-build and CM-at-Risk. Poppen is LEED AP certified


and a member of the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA). She earned her B.S. in construction engineering and management from Purdue University. With 13 years of experience at


McCarthy, McKay is responsible for McCarthy’s preconstruction and construction services, ensuring the strategic allocation of the company’s resources of the company to meet project needs. After joining McCarthy in 2007, he accelerated through the internal ranks based on his demon- strated leadership on several high-level projects spanning across industries. He is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council. He received his B.S. in construction management from California State University Fresno. 
