host of awards during the gala, including nine Constructor award winners selected from a field of 25 previously announced finalist projects in its 32nd
Annual
Constructor Awards program. Te 2019 Constructor Awards winners and their projects are:
AGC Community Service Winner: Construction Leadership Council of Southern California for “Los Angeles Boys & Girls Club, Phase 1”
Te AGC Construction
Leadership Council (CLC) of Southern California was looking for a way to make a difference in its local community when it forged a partnership with the Los Angeles County Boys & Girls Club. Te Club’s nearly 70-year-old Lincoln Heights facility was in dire need of repairs and upgrades in order to continue its mission of serving more than 1,800 local youth each year. Together the AGC CLC and
the Boys & Girls Club identified needed work, starting with time- sensitive repairs to the Club’s outdoor facilities. Te first phase of work included a security fence upgrade, improvements to the baseball field infrastructure, the addition of a snack shack, a water fountain repair and a

new storage shed for maintenance supplies including a new riding lawn mower. More than a dozen businesses
and organizations directly collabo- rated on the project, and many other individuals contributed in some way to the project’s ultimate success. Te Southern California CLC has raised more than $50,000 in direct and in-kind contributions for the project to date. Also selected as finalist in this category
was Turner Construction Company for “UCSF Children’s Hospital Oakland Outpatient Center Two.”
Heavy Civil Under $20 Million Winner: Granite Construction Compa- ny for “Lost Creek Dam Modification Project”
Granite Construction faced unique
challenges and successfully delivered a wide-ranging scope of work to complete the Lost Creek Dam Modifi- cation project. Located on a tributary of the south fork of the Feather River in a remote part of Butte County, the project entailed upgrading the existing 90-year-old concrete arch dam to meet new seismic standards and flood criteria. Design specifications included
increasing the dam spillway openings, raising the crest outside of the spill section, reinforcing the downstream face, removing all unsound, fractured or damaged concrete and foundation material and protecting the plunge pool area to prevent scouring of the foundation materials. Te project also called for reducing the number of piers and increasing the span between the piers to about 40 feet while maintaining the existing spill crest length. Granite successfully navigated
myriad challenges on the job, from extreme weather to design changes and scope adjustments. Trough preplanning and execution, the skilled staff and crew overcame every obstacle to deliver the project on time and on budget. Also selected as finalists in this
