On November 8, 2018, California


had the deadliest wildfire in its history, destroying the once serene community of Paradise. Because of this tragedy, FEMA immediately activated emergency shelters while setting the goal to house 2,000 families in more permanent housing. Royal Electric


was contacted to provide power to 74 FEMA trailers within a four-week timeline. While the timeline required the


team to complete tasks rapidly, their work was encumbered by the project’s location. Te rural setting made both the sourcing of material and its delivery more difficult. Te remote location, long working hours, and lack of temporary housing due to the fires also meant that Royal Electric crews stayed on site throughout the project in RVs. Te company’s skilled underground crews avoided existing utilities without the availability of adequate as-built drawings. Royal’s team was proud to deliver


an expertly designed upgrade to the electrical infrastructure and pedestals at the campground, completing all work one week early despite dealing with heavy rains, challenging soil conditions and unforeseen existing utilities. Also selected as finalists in this
