delivered the first major expansion of the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach since the facility was completed in 1998. Te new addition, Pacific Visions, includes a state-of-the-art theater, exhibition space, an art gallery and several new live animal exhibits. Executing and constructing the


design concept for Pacific Visions as a single, sinuous, biomorphic form was a daunting task. Achieved through a jigsaw puzzle of glass and steel, the team brought to life a building evocative of the nearby Pacific Ocean. Triple-laminated glass was used to evoke the movement of ocean waves, providing visual depth, interest and luminosity. Each of the 839 glass panels had to be custom made to accommodate the many curves and angles of the exterior form. An intense collaboration between
