the DEMOPARK—except snow. On Monday morning, balloons, masts, flags, outriggers, etc. had to be brought down due to extremely strong winds. Tey were so strong, in fact, that later that day the fair was cleared to protect visitors and exhibitors from flying parts from quite literally "flying buildings."
I used the time in the afternoon for culture. I visited the Nicolai Church in the center of Creuzburg with its impressive, round, Romanesque-style chancel from around the year 1180. In addition to the Creuzburg, the Liborius Chapel and the oldest natural stone bridge in Germany north of the Main from 1223 over the Werra, one of the most visible landmarks of Creuzburg.
At the reception on the evening before the field day, around 200 participants attended. All participants took their seats at over 20 festively decorated, round tables. At that time, many had already listened to the short ETP general meeting. Claudia Bertoldi, ETP Managing Director, presented the economic and other figures in front of the board, which was completely present except for Jacky van de Sluis, who was, of course, busy at his farm preparing for the field day.
One word must certainly be said about the external conditions. After it was almost unbearably hot in Luxembourg on Wednesday at 39°C (102.2°F), clouds moved in on Wednesday late afternoon. In the evening, the precipitation discharged. As any farmer can relate, there was very little rain at the farm, but it was a torrential downpour at the ETP Host Hotel, less than 10-15 minutes away! We would have liked at least a little more rain, but the cooling effect was extremely noticeable on Tursday morning. Te circumstances could not have been better for the set-up of most exhibitors on Tursday, with pleasant temperatures and no soggy field. With the Luxembourgish, clayey loam, this would have become a problem.
European Turfgrass Producers (ETP)
Field Day Expo Tese turf industry exhibitions did not end in Germany. No, Luxembourg, or more precisely the van de Sluis family, called the European turf community to Sanem in Luxembourg—their home. After three years, a field day of the European Turfgrass Producers (ETP) was held again on Friday, July 4, 2025.
Prior to the beginning of this event, I met with Casey Reynolds, PhD, the Executive Director from Turfgrass Producers International (TPI). He attended the ETP Field Day Expo in Luxembourg so that we could continue to develop ways to better serve our European members and to be there in support of the industry on behalf of TPI. We are certainly cooperating further in serving TPI members and the industry as a whole in Europe. I am personally looking forward to this cooperation and think TPI, ETP, and DRV members can look with confidence on this relationship that TPI is committed to serving its members all over the world.

Around 400 participants, it had been heard in advance, would come to the field day in Luxembourg. Of these, 100 are representatives of the exhibitors and almost 300 are turf producers. Alex van de Sluis had announced 34 exhibitors and participants from 36 nations at the evening event. Te longest journey was certainly made by two participants from Zimbabwe and a North American producer. Great Britain, Italy, and Scandinavia were well represented. But the
