inexpensive to achieve compliance by the underwriter’s due date. It is also very important to communicate the status of your compliance to the underwriter on a timely basis, as the underwriter is expecting compliance. Do not ignore the recommendation(s) and go into radio silence. Communicate any issues you may have with the recommendation(s) prior to the underwriters due date, especially if;
Compliance is going to take more time than the Underwriter’s due date allows.
Compliance is going to be difficult, explain why.
If compliance requires an Action Plan, ask Underwriter for approval of the Action Plan.
Compliance is going to be impossible. This is when you start to negotiate, possibly offering the Underwriter alternatives. No harm in negotiating at this point.
