Michael Shaw Communications & Member Engagement Manager CAI Keystone

When the history of CAI Keystone is told years from now, one name will inevitably stand out as a defining influence: Tony Campisi, CAE. For more than two decades, Tony’s steady hand, keen vision, and genuine care for people has shaped the Keystone Chapter into one of CAI’s most respected and vibrant communities.

Now, after 22 years as Chapter Executive Director, Tony has turned the page to begin a new chapter as CAI’s National Director of Government Affairs. While his title and office location have changed, his imprint will remain on nearly every facet of the organization he helped grow, guide, and inspire.

Few could have predicted the scope and scale of the transformation that would take place under Tony’s stewardship when he first stepped into the role of Executive Director for the chapter in December 2003. Over the course of 22 years, he has guided the chapter through

seasons of change, growth, and challenge, shaping it into one of the most respected and robust chapters in the country. His steady leadership has left an indelible mark not only on the organization, but also on the people who have had the privilege of working alongside him.

From humble beginnings, with a staff of just two and a set of offices that shifted locations like a traveling road show, the chapter Tony inherited was a very different organization than the one members know today.

As Past President Carl Weiner, Esq., CCAL recalls, “I was the first president of the chapter when Tony served as Executive Director starting in 2004. I enjoyed working with him in that year and I knew then that we had made a good hire. However, no one foresaw the enormous changes to the chapter that Tony would help facilitate over the next 20+ years. The chapter that Tony took over in 2004 bears little resemblance to the organization that he leads today. Our staff consisted of Tony and a part-time bookkeeper. The chapter offices were a few rooms in other offices with the location changing on a regular basis.

“Under Tony’s dedicated and inspiring leadership, the CAI Keystone Chapter has flourished in terms of not only the number of members but the commitment of the members to the mission of CAI. Those of us who have been part of the chapter for decades look at the current state of the organization with pride. Tony is leaving us with an incredible legacy.”

Past President Nancy Hastings, CMCA, AMS, PCAM, whose mother, MaryAnn McNulty, was chapter president when Tony was hired said, “I have many Tony memories. My favorite may have been MaryAnn telling me how excited she was when she and the exec search committee interviewed and hired Tony. She was so excited for his potential within the organization—they weren’t wrong!”

A Steady Hand in

Challenging Times Tony’s arrival at Keystone came during a period when the chapter was navigating internal challenges and shifting dynamics, recalls Past President Stephen DiOrio, “I was on the committee that interviewed and ultimately 
