Alstroemeria ‘NOVIA’
‘FLORENTIA’ Royal Van Zanten ‘Florentia,’ boasting extra-large blossoms, fills a void in the market for lavender alstroemeria, Alders said. “A lot of them go towards the pink tone, where this has a true lavender color,” he said. And, he notes, alstroemeria are becoming more popular in wedding work again. Judge Erik Hagstrom, of Albin Hagstrom & Son, Pierson, Florida, was impressed with its light green and undamaged foliage, and recommended the flower for everyday work. “It is very marketable,” he said. “If you had this in a shop, people would gravitate toward it, and that’s the most important thing.”

‘NOVIA’ Ayura SAS “This one is going to be a very popular flower,” said judge Harrison “Red” Kennicott, AAF, of Kennicott Brothers. “It has a classic opening, and the color is special.” Judge Lori Wheat, AAF, of Lafayette Florist, Gift Shop & Garden Center in Lafayette, Colorado, was drawn to the color. “Sometimes you can’t find this soft, pinky peachy color, and we’re always looking for a color like this that we can use in bridal work and in everyday work. It works so well with the succulents that have still been popular for us.”
Other Cut Flower
‘PINK VICTORY’ VERONICA Floral Chain Direct “The color is very striking,” said Moore, who has used pink veronica but not in this vibrant, deeper shade, which stood out against the foliage. She was also impressed with the length of the stems, which add to its use as a line flower in design work. Alders also praised the color, which he agreed was not as common. “The Victory series is the superior series of veronica, and [Floral Chain Direct has] achieved it in all colors,” he said.
