 Cross country and track have given him the opportunity to challenge himself, build friendships, and grow both as an athlete and a person. As he  new goals while enjoying every moment with his teammates.  watching his older brother, Tyler, compete. Inspired to follow in  the sport.


"I enjoy cross country and track because it allows me to get outside and spend time with friends," Locke said. Over the years, Locke has developed into one of New Bloom-


 teammates, coaches, and family, along with the hard work put in during training. Consistency and dedication have helped him continue improving throughout his high school career. Competition is what keeps Locke motivated. He enjoys the challenge of pushing himself every time he races, even though he admits the pressure can sometimes be stressful. During those moments, he relies on the encouragement of those around him. "When I feel worn down, my team and my coach are what keep me going," he said.  Jacob White. Locke appreciates having a coach who believes in him and always makes sure he understands the plan before a race.


My drive to compete comes from wanting to be the best, and this season the drive is to break 17 minutes in the 5K.


Sports have also taught Locke lessons that extend beyond com- petition. He believes perseverance and trusting the process are the keys to success, whether on the course or in everyday life. Those same values are what he hopes to pass on to the younger runners on the team.
