and O's, the football part of it, will take care of themselves. Good  This year's team has 23 returning lettermen, including seven   running back Tommy Scheulen, and twin linemen Connor and Xavier 


"I'm not going to lie, a successful season to me would be to see these eight seniors walk across the stage and graduate.


That's the biggest thing."


"We've got some athletes," Sonnemaker said, "and we've got some great seniors."


But the process of building a competitive program takes time and patience. This year's team looks to take the next step in


that direction. "You know how it is — the dog is either going to stay down when


 snarl and get a little edge. I think we're starting to get a little edge.   "They're tired of getting their butts kicked, and they want to go out there and show people they can play a little football." Linn's youth programs from third grade to junior high are get- ting on solid ground, so that's a big step forward. "If we can have a great culture created with the Little Wildcats and all the way up to our seniors," Sonnemaker said, "that would be a huge win for us. "We want to make football fun and alive in Linn, because this community has been craving it and they want it." So what would be considered a successful season for this football team?


"I'm not going to lie," Sonnemaker said. "A successful season to me would be to see these eight seniors walk across the stage and graduate. That's the biggest thing."


No matter what the team's record is this season, they've al- ready won with the hiring of Sonnemaker.
