ISIA EDUCATION FOUNDATION ROBYN L. BENTLEY-GRAHAM, CAE ISIA Education Foundation Secretary Foundation Launches New 2020 Fundraisers W

ITH 2020 USHERING in a new decade, the ISIA Education Foundation (ISIAEF)

is

committed to continuing the promotion our new image and finding different ways to raise funds for our scholarship program for deserving ISI skating scholars.

Te refreshed and condensed format

of the annual ISI conference & trade show has inspired us to launch some innovative fundraising ideas. Many of you have fond memories of our past “FUNdraisers,” and we will continue to host these same events when possible.

Te ISIAEF fundraising committee has planned the following “live” events for ISI members in 2020:

• Silent Auction to be held on Tuesday, March 24 during the 2020 ISI Spring Trade Show in Pasadena, Calif. We will have both skating and non-skating items. (Watch our social media channels leading up to conference for a listing of some items.)

• ISIAEF Benefit Hockey Tournament and Auction at the 2020 ISI Fall Conference & Trade Show in November in Boston, Mass. (More details to follow closer to the date.)

How can ISI skaters (or family mem- bers, friends and rinks) contribute to the ISIAEF?

• Skate with the Stars Raffle at the 2020 ISI World Recreational Team Championships — Skaters have the opportunity to win the chance to skate in the annual ISI Benefit Show at ISI Worlds on July 24 in Blaine, Minn. Tickets will be sold online in advance, and winners will be drawn at the ISI Competitors’ Party. (Bonus tickets are included when purchasing online in advance.)

• Host an event at your facility to benefit the ISIA Education Foundation Scholarship Fund — SportQuest

32 SPRING 2020

Skating Academy (SQSA) from Parade Ice Garden, Minneapolis, recently raised $130 for the ISIA Education Foundation. On the last day of the 2019 summer session, skaters participated in a Team Challenge jump contest, earning dollar amounts for specific jumps. How much can you raise at your facility, and how can you and your skaters have fun doing so? Please let us know your ideas: fundraising@isiafoundation.org.

Other ways to donate:

• Shop with AmazonSmile (smile.amazon. com). Tere is no additional cost to do this, and Amazon Prime members still receive the same benefits. Just list the ISIAEF as your charity of choice and Amazon will donate 0.5 percent of the sale to the ISIAEF). (You can even keep track of how much you have helped us!)

• Donate directly on our website:

isiafoundation.org. (Te ISIAEF is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization.)

ISIAEF Corporate Challenge

Two of our fundraising committee members and ISIAEF trustees have launched a Corporate Challenge to raise funds for the foundation. Art Sutherland of Accent Refrigeration is heading up the campaign and kicked it off with a large donation. He is reaching out to ice sports industry vendors, challenging them to make donations. Art’s company will match vendors’ contributions (up to a certain amount). Robb Olexin of Becker Arena Products, also a trustee and committee member, has accepted Art’s challenge. Haven’t been contacted and/ or challenged by one of these gentlemen yet and want to get involved? Email us at fundraising@isiafoundation.org.

ISIAEF Scholarship Application

The ISIAEF Scholarship application deadline for the 2020-21 school year was Feb. 1. Scholarship recipients will be

On behalf of the ISIAEF Board of

Trustees, I would like to thank everyone who has supported us throughout the years. I’d also like to note that we are a small, dedicated group of volunteers, and although we work very closely to support the ISI, we are a separate 501(c)(3), charitable organization. If you are interested in getting involved and helping us carry out the mission of the ISIAEF, please contact: info@isiafoundation.org
